PROPOSED SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
WSSA Members,
For 22 years now, while sponsorship of WSSA teams has been adequate, there seems to have been a haphazard approach to procuring, maintaining, and developing sponsors. The WSSA Board of Directors (BoD) wants to set documented guidelines on how sponsorships are created and managed.
We understand the past practice of "finding your own sponsor" and how that would make some folks feel the sponsor belongs to them. There have been instances of men switching teams or divisions and wanting to take their "hard earned" sponsor with them. This should not be the case. The BoD feels a responsibility to assist teams in finding sponsors and wants to make sponsorship a priority, revamping the levels of sponsorship to include a league sponsorship as well. The WSSA itself should have a close relationship with our sponsors to foster trust and long-term commitment. There are also community and revenue implications we want to explore to ensure the future of the WSSA. (Click HERE for the current sponsorship levels)
With these thoughts in mind, the BoD has written a sponsorship document of guidelines, created a brochure to share with potential sponsors that explains our history and what a sponsor can expect as well as developed a web page that showcases our current sponsors (with links to their websites once implemented).
The guidelines document and brochure are viewable below. The web page can be accessed through the WSSA site - "Documents" tab (at the bottom) - "Friends of WSSA" or CLICK HERE.
Please review these three items and provide the BoD feedback by response to your Division President or through the WSSA email: [email protected]
Your window for input lasts until the end of the year. Our plan is to put the items up for membership vote at the annual meeting.
Thank you,
Jim Ratkus
Atlantic Division President
